Nigeria were looking for a win so as to fight for their fourth AFCON title, but they suffered 2-1 defeat as Riyad Mahrez scored the winner for Algeria at the death.

Algeria will now face Senegal in the final of the 2019 African Nations Cup as the Teranga Lions beat Tunisia 1-0 in their own semifinal match.

The Riyadh Mahrez-captained team has not appeared in the AFCON final since 1990, when they hosted and won, beating Nigeria in a closely-fought final.

However, the Algerians have won four of their five AFCON 2019 matches within the regulation time.
