Nigerians React As EFCC Withdraws From Goje’s Corruption Trial


Various Nigerians on social media, including supporters and critics of the president Buhari administration, however, reacted negatively to the development.

Nigerians have responded, following the withdrawal of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from the debasement preliminary of Senator Danjuma Goje, one day after he pulled back from the race for the Senate administration and upheld President Muhammadu Buhari’s applicant.

Goje, a former Gombe state senator, had been blamed for purportedly abusing N25 billion while in office and the case had been continuous for a long time, Premium Times reports.

During sitting on Friday, June 7, the delegate of the AGF said they expected the case in light of a legitimate concern for equity.

Responding to the move by the AGF, Paul Erokoro, the insight to Goje, did not question the new advancement by the lawyer general.

A professor of journalism, Farooq Kperogi, expressed that: “I’ve just learned from someone who witnessed Danjuma Goje’s meeting with Buhari in Aso Rock that it was Buhari who PERSONALLY gave orders that Goje’s N25b fraud case be withdrawn. It was d condition Goje gave Buhari for supporting Ahmed Lawan for senate Pres. I swear by the Holy.”

The withdrawal came few hours after the duo met with President Muhammadu Buhari in his office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
